The Prairie’s Way
****************************************************

The report stopped with a quote from a friend. “He couldn’t take any more. He snapped.”

He couldn’t resist.

I forgot about him until church day, when I caught myself praying to end my suffering but not his. I laughed.

I couldn’t resist.

Another longing walk revealed that wind makes the prairie grass bend, but resistance makes it sway.

That’s easy to say.

My daughter’s eyes ask “What should I do, papa? What should I do?”

I cannot resist.

Wind makes the prairie bend. Resistance makes the prairie sway. Resist, dear. Resist.
