Mud Becomes Dirt

It makes four wheeling
A messy, but exciting ride.
It’s under the big wheels
At small town tractor pulls.
It’s the only flooring you’ll find
Under the feet of many drunks
In the beer tent of a rural fair.
It flies under ponies that practice
At a midnight rodeo.
It gets under fingernails
When planting sweet corn seeds
In the tiny garden.
It looks like smashed up Oreos,
But tastes like some diet or
Fat free kind of chocolate.
And sometimes it gets in our eyes,
To remind us that we have the power to see.
